Optia Partners is an environmentally conscious company. We believe that our obligations extend beyond our responsibility to our clients and employees and should include the wellbeing of the environment and the planet in general. As such, Optia is proud to be a NoCO2 certified company, meaning that our operations are completely carbon neutral.
As a service-based company, our everyday operations add to our environmental footprint and greenhouse gas emissions. This includes consumtion of energy and transport fuel, waste and natural resources, as well as the consumption on our behalf of third party contractors and service providers.
To reduce our impact, we decided to become part of the NoCO2 certification program and engaged the Carbon Reduction Institute to undertake an audit of the greenhouse gas emissions produced from our operations. The audit provided us with an understanding of the impact our operations have towards climate change and allowed us to identify measures we can take to reduce our carbon footprint.
The emissions audit revealed that in 2009 we were responsible for 82.7 tonnes of CO2 emissions and are now investigating ways to further reduce those emissions through measures such as energy efficiency and staff education. Furthermore, we purchase carbon credits from renewable energy projects to offset our emissions.
Optia has made a commitment to achieving the smallest possible environmental footprint and recognize that this is a process of continuous improvement.
Our Commitments to reduce greenhouse emissions are:
- Ensuring that we are continually at the forefront of driving best environmental practice within our industry
- Establishing benchmarks to track our progress towards meeting our goal of leaving the smallest possible carbon footprint
- Educating our employees and counterparts to encourage them to reduce their own impacts
- Communicating the actions that we take using clear disclosure
