Entry into an MBA school does not come automatically. Infact, there is a considerable amount of pre-preparation required and a good MBA prep school or agency can offer free counseling on application processes and how to prepare for the required tests. We recommend consulting a preparation agency; however as a general outline you will need to meet the following requirements.
- GMAT Training: GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) is a consistent assessment, taken in English, which helps business schools determine the qualifications of applicants for advanced study in business and management. Schools use this as a predictor of the academic ability in an MBA program or in graduate management programs. This exam measures verbal, mathematical and analytical writing skills that one has developed over a period of time through education and career.
- A four year Bachelor's degree. If the Bachelor's degree is of three year duration, completion of a Master's degree is required.
- Three and a half years of work experience: Not stated as a requirement sometimes but it is implicit for the top tier MBA schools. Schools beyond the top tier do accept students with less or no experience.
- Letters of Reference from three people who are in a position to judge your potential for success in the graduate program.
- A single-spaced essay, no more than two pages, discussing your career goals and/or professional aspirations, the relevance of those to the MBA and any other information that demonstrates your potential for successful degree completion.
- GRE (Graduate Record Examinations) This test measures critical thinking, analytical writing, verbal reasoning, and quantitative reasoning skills that have been acquired over a long period of time and that are not related to any specific field of study. It is taken by prospective graduate applicants. The GRE test scores are used by admissions or fellowship panels to supplement undergraduate records and other qualifications for graduate study. The scores provide common measures for comparing the qualifications of applicants and aid in evaluating grades and recommendations. Any accredited graduate or professional school, or any department or division within a school in the United States, may require or recommend that its applicants take the General Test, a Subject Test, or both. If approved by the GRE Board, a non-accredited institution can also receive test takers' scores. This test is taken by those who are planning to take their MBA in the United States.
- Official transcripts from any previous college and university work completed.
- Complete the TOEFL with a minimum score of 550. (If you are not a native English speaker).
- Interview with the university you are applying to.
