Starting a new Business Unit as Sr. Business Development Manager

With his company being taken over and division being restructured, the candidate needed to find another position. Optia’s Technology team managed to identify a role as Sr. Business Development Manager with a 15% increase in salary.

The candidate was an experienced embedded software engineer who had progressed in his career to senior technical marketing roles, specializing in wireless and mobile technologies. He had moved companies a couple of years ago to take on a position as technical marketing specialist with a world renowned software vendor’s mobile technologies group. Unfortunately the company he joined was now being taken over by a major competitor and the candidate’s group was to be downsized. In short, he had to find a new position.

The Partner of the Technology team had been keeping in touch with the candidate and upon learning about the situation, took immediate action to try to find a suitable position for the candidate. The Partner identified several appropriate positions through his network, including a position for an Embedded Business Development Manager with one of his device clients which perfectly matched the candidate’s qualifications and interests. Co-incidentally the candidate also had a strong interest in this particular company. A series of face to face interviews and phone conferences were set up with both Japanese and US management teams.

The candidate was exactly what the client was looking for and the WW VP of Marketing approved the hire without delay. Not only did the candidate find a great position in a timely manner, his salary was increased by 15% and his title was raised to Senior Business Development Manager tasked with starting up a new Business Unit.
