Our client had been increasing activity in their trust banking business along with the resurgence of the Japanese economy. Part of this involved expanding their services to private clients in Japan and as a result was eager to recruit sales professionals with a background in this area. The client was looking for a young, bilingual candidate with financial services experience preferably with a private banking background.
Through our network we were able to find a young professional in a Japanese bank who was looking for a more challenging work environment. Although he did not have such a strong network of clients to offer, he had demonstrated strong sales and leadership ability and it seemed that his true potential was not being realized. Rather than a large domestic organization, he was looking more a more merit based system at a global firm where he could be evaluated based on performance as opposed to seniority. This was exactly the type of person our client was seeking. We introduced the candidate to the client and coordinated the interview process.
Within a few weeks of meetings, the client offered the candidate the position and a very attractive salary. He accepted and is now part of one of the most successful private client groups in Tokyo.
