Semiconductor Process Equipment - SCM Director
Due to company expansion and because of a large and varied inventory of equipment and parts, the client required an experienced Director who could handle customer service and supply chain management issues.
The client was a global leader providing automated equipment and parts used by semiconductor fabrication plants for the sorting and handling of their wafers. With a range of over 10,000 products being supplied to fabrication plants throughout Japan and the APAC region, an efficient SCM system was vital to the company’s success. Additionally due to the company’s expansion in recent years, a good SCM Director was now needed to lead Japan’s back-end operations. Optia’s manufacturing recruiting team was able to identify several candidates for the role and within 3 weeks introduced 4 qualified Directors. The client chose two as finalists and after initial interviews in Japan, flew both to the US Headquarters to meet the CEO and EVP. The chosen candidate had worked in supply chain at a leading manufacturer of CVD equipment for the semiconductor industry and had experience in leading SCM and ERP implementation projects which was viewed as a plus for this particular role. For the candidate it was an opportunity to help build a more developed SCM infrastructure in a growing company and a chance to apply his extensive skills and knowledge which were not being effectively used at his previous company.
