Plastics Manufacturer - Sales Manager

When a leading manufacturer of high performance polymers asked Optia to find an experienced sales candidate who knew the automotive market, the manufacturing team was able to identify a strong sales candidate with global account management experience at one of the client’s main target customers.

The client was a leading manufacturer of high performance polymers used in various applications including automotive, electronics, PC and OA equipment. Optia Partners had worked with the client for several years and had successfully introduced many qualified candidates for their Japan operations. On this occasion the client was looking for an experienced Sales Manager to develop and handle new and existing accounts in the automotive market and asked Optia if they could introduce candidates who had good contacts in this area. Optia’s manufacturing recruiting team was very strong in the chemical market and conducted the search through the use of its large network base. There were many strong sales candidates with knowledge of polymers, resins and coatings who had experience selling to the automotive industry and it was a matter of carefully screening and presenting the position to the appropriate ones. The manufacturing team introduced 3 qualified candidates from which the client chose one who had global account management with one of their major targets and considered his network to be an invaluable resource for them. The candidate’s present company had been stagnant in the last few years and contributed little to R&D investment for new product development. He was happy to join a company which was continuing to grow and had a clear product roadmap planned for the coming years.
