In recent years, semicon equipment providers have been calling for good FSE’s to provide on-site support at their customer’s fabs. Optia Partners has been able to secure several FSE’s for its clients because of its strong network in this area.
With the return of positive sentiment in the semiconductor industry as a whole, many of Optia’s clients in the semiconductor market have begun aggressive recruiting drives. One of the biggest demands is for experienced Field Service Engineers to provide on-site support at the customer’s fabs. The client on this occasion was no exception and was in urgent need of several FSE’s to support their CVD equipment. Fortunately the Optia Partners consultant handling our semiconductor clients had 7 years sales experience in Japan’s semiconductor industry and access to a large network of contacts. His network proved invaluable in locating a number of FSE’s who are usually very difficult to access because of their remote work locations. The consultant was able to introduce several candidates immediately and a Senior FSE was hired to fill a critical position at a customer’s fabrication plant in Eastern Japan. Over the next few months, the consultant successfully introduced a further 2 candidates to work in remote locations. Although not all FSE candidates are interested in changing their companies at the time they are contacted, many of them appreciate keeping in touch with Optia’s semiconductor recruiters as the industry is cyclical and downturns in the market can lead to sudden job instability.
