Electro-Mechanical Parts Manufacturer - Software and Control Engineer

Due to the client’s remote location, attracting talented engineers and business professionals was proving to be a difficult challenge. Optia needed to be resourceful in its strategy and approach to identify possible candidates.

The client was a manufacturer of electro-mechanical parts used in a variety of factory automation and mechanical applications in aircraft, defense and industrial control. The company historically performed well and was well positioned to enter and expand a variety of markets, develop new products and additionally provide engineering and project management services. However expansion was stifled as it was experiencing difficulty attracting talented professionals because of the office’s remote location. The client asked Optia Partners for assistance in locating talented sales and engineering professionals. The manufacturing recruiting team set about on a recruiting plan which involved targeting relevant companies located near the client’s facilities or other remote locations where the employees were more than likely not permanent residents and could probably relocate. The first candidate successfully placed at the clients company was a very talented software engineer with a MS in Mechanical Engineering who had previous experience developing control software for a major semiconductor equipment manufacturer. The candidate’s present company was being taken over and he asked the Optia team if there were any good opportunities as he was not so keen on remaining at his merged company. The candidate suited the position for software and control engineer at the client company and because of the candidate’s relevant experience, educational background and strong communication and leadership skills there was plenty of opportunity for the candidate to lead interesting projects in the APAC region and abroad and definitely high prospects for promotion. The company was very stable, growing in several markets, had a design center in Japan to cover the APAC region and paid high base salaries. It was a great opportunity for the candidate who readily agreed to accept the position.
